About the Role

Our Client has a large and highly experienced family department with an excellent reputation for expertise and client care. Both the firm and department have achieved great financial success in recent years and they are currently looking to recruit a Family Solicitor or Executive to cover their Guiseley, Ilkley and Otley branches.

The role will involve managing a busy and varied private family caseload so we are looking for someone organised and efficient with a strong sense of commercial acumen, preferably 5+ years PQE (however they welcome applications from all qualification levels). KEY TASKS

Running and assisting with a case load of client matters.
Dealing with new client enquiries.
Dealing with matters at all stages, from taking the client’s initial instructions through to archiving, in accordance with office and accounts procedures.
Taking instructions from clients and advising accordingly.
Instructing counsel or other experts where appropriate.
Representing clients at Court (including advocacy) as appropriate.
Obtaining and preparing file documentation.
Cost drafting as appropriate.
Billing files and obtaining monies due to the firm from the clients and other parties.

Requirements

KEY SKILLS – ESSENTIAL

  • Professional and friendly client care.

  • Ability to work accurately in accordance with procedures and processes.

  • Ability to deal with technical details and to express solutions to complex legal problems in a concise and client-friendly way.

  • Good spoken and written communication to deal with clients and other parties face to face, by telephone and in producing legal documents.

  • Confident IT skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly.

  • Ability to organise and prioritise work, under supervision, to meet clients’ expectations and matter deadlines.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and within a team.


KNOWLEDGE

  • Case management systems

  • Solicitors Code of Conduct


QUALIFICATION

  • Current Practising Certificate or equivalent


EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years PQE


OTHER 

  • Flexible and ‘can do’ attitude

  • Full-UK driving licence

  • Willingness to work from more than one office to meet business need

  • Excellent written English to produce documents for the clients, court and other parties.

  • Good spoken English to resolve telephone enquiries and complete advocacy at court.

  • Satisfactory absence record or sound justification for high absenteeism.

  • Able to promote the image of the firm.
